BFS supported a special social dance residency at the Maine School of Science and Mathematics in Limestone — preparation for a Regency Ball, with English country dances from the late 18c and early 19c. Wearing period costumes they made themselves, students in Dr. Brigman’s “Victoria’s Literature” class demonstrated three dances: Sir Roger de Coverly, Come Haste to the Wedding, and Money in Both Pockets. Music by the North Star Sisters and the MSSM String Ensemble inspired us all. After the demonstration, the rest of the school community took to the dance floor with light-footed ease, executing sprightly setting steps, elegant two hand turns, and polite back-to-backs. Judging from the smiles and laughter, and the text and photos in this MSSM Facebook Post, the Night at Netherfield was a social dance success!
