Wild Asparagus
A New England contra dancing institution–but way more fun than that sounds–Wild Asparagus has been touring the country, thrilling dancers, and influencing countless other bands since 1984. The band draws on the musical traditions of New England, the British Isles, and Canada, as well as classical music, using a unique combination of instruments that includes not just the mainstays of fiddle, piano, and guitar, but also concertina, bodhran, and–if we’re lucky–the amazing Breton bombarde. Joining Wild Asparagus on bass and tenor guitar will be Corey DiMario, bassist with the transcendent string band Crooked Still, plus a host of other bands, and a favorite instructor at Maine Fiddle Camp.
